LifeLike Proto 2000 GP7 HO scale locomotives are well known for fantastic detail but suffer from electrical pickup issues, cracked gears, and mediocre motor performance. With our conversion frame you can easily upgrade your Proto 2000 GP30 locomotive to a full Kato drive. Enjoy legendary performance and say goodbye to cracked gears and high amp draw forever.

The frame accepts trucks and motors from any Kato FA or FB unit. The Kato motor and trucks are a drop in fit, no modifications to the Kato components or the Proto 2000 shell is required. The conversion includes a plastic mounting tray that carries the weights and separates wiring from the drive components. One additional feature, the plastic fuel tank can be secured to the frame with a screw, no more sticky tape holding your fuel tank on!

• Kato motors typically have lower amp draw, that can be important if you are running multiple units on the layout.
• Kato motors run smoother than the motors provided in Proto 2000 locomotives
• Kato trucks have a superior electrical pickup when compared to the electrical path of the Proto 2000 design
• Kato trucks have superior electrical path to the motor when compared to the electrical path of the Proto 2000 design
• Kato trucks have superior wheels when compared the wheels on a Proto 2000, this helps electrical pickup and reduces dirt accumulation.
• The brass frame is completely isolated from the electrical pickup.
• No cracked gears to deal with.
• Most Proto 2000 locomotives will need internal modification (milling or grinding) to fit your electrical components. No need to do this with our kit.
• The electrical tray provided in our kit has built in wire keepers to reducing pinching of wires when installing the shell.
• The supplied electrical tray allows you to easily configure weight placement to fit your chosen electronics
• The fuel tank can be attached with a screw instead of sticky tape
